How to use Vocal range
Start the microphone to see your pitch. Tap Capture range, then explore your lowest and highest comfortable notes, holding each for about a second. Tap Finish capture to keep the result while the pitch monitor continues. Save card downloads your result as an image.
Use the piano for a reference note. Listening pauses briefly while the piano sounds so it won’t count as your voice. Warm up gently and stop if singing feels uncomfortable.
What does my range tell me?
Your range is the distance between your lowest and highest recorded notes. Twelve semitones make an octave. The filled piano keys show the span between your endpoints; they don’t mean you tested every note in between. Comfortable singing range can change with warm-up, technique, and the day.
Range alone cannot reliably classify a voice as bass, tenor, alto, or soprano. Tone, comfortable tessitura, and register transitions matter too, so Vocal range doesn’t assign a voice type.
Why does the pitch sometimes jump?
Background music, breathy sounds, multiple voices, and strong harmonics can confuse pitch detection. Use a quiet space and a steady “ah” or hum. Microphone readings are estimates; check surprising extremes with the piano. The microphone measures approximately C1–C7, with reduced reliability near the limits.
How do I use this on my phone or iPad?
Open the site in your browser, tap Start microphone, and allow access. If an in-app browser blocks the microphone, open the link in Safari or Chrome. The site needs a secure HTTPS connection for microphone access. You can always use the piano and mark your range by ear instead.
